Two weeks ago Spinna and I had the rare opportunity of kicking it for the whole day, and after running around doing errands we went back to his studio to prepare for a set that he was playing that night on DJ Scratch’s online radio station, scratchvision.com. Spinna’s theme for the night was strictly disco 45’s - he was maniacally tossing 45’s around the studio as i was organizing them in boxes. This was the ensuing madness in the studio:

Then we rolled over to Scratch’s place - it was the first time I met him and he was super laid back and friendly. Spinna’s set was from 9-11, but he played for an extra hour, and probably dropped like 120 45’s in that time. The show’s are not archived, but check his show the collector every tuesday night at 9.

My co-worker Marty and I had been going to this warehouse for about 6 weeks pulling records for the shop and it was quite an interesting experience… The owner of the records is a real weirdo (looks like a bloated zombie with black circles around his eyes due to the fact that he sleeps 10 hrs a week). This guy managed to accumulate over 250K records in this space, and he had been defaulting on his rent so he needed to make some money. For hours on end I was surfing on top of unstable carboard boxes piled 15 ft high in the air sifting through tons of destroyed terrible records and finding a lot of great stuff in the process…

a lot has been going on this past week… the CMJ fest floods NYC once a year for a week with a million artists performing at a million venues. Yuki and I went out on Wednesday night to see T-Ski Valley and Spoonie G…

This show was really sad and surreal. For anyone who doesnt know, T-Ski and Spoonie are both old school legends, and I was really excited to see them play. The place turned out to be a dump with poor sound (a ground wire hum that was never fixed), and the performances were half assed to say the least. There was about 20 people there, and yuki and i left after being there for about 45 minutes… Photobucket

We then headed over to Trophy Bar where my homies Geology, Amir, and JT Donaldson were rocking with Waajeed and Black Spade. It was my first time checking out that bar, and although it wasnt packed, it allowed for a intimate feel with just friends and good folks. Couldnt really take any pictures inside coz it was too dark, but this place was directly accross the street:

And here’s a track that Geology released a while back:
